Gift Baskets

For our ward YW auction, we decided to put together gift baskets. They were fun, but time consuming (my girls don't really sew).

Mom & Me
1-Mixing bowl
1-Brownie mix
1-bottle of sprinkles
2- aprons (mom sized and kid sized)
2- rubber scraper/spatulas
2-oven mitts
2-hand towels
1-frosting

We made the aprons, so that was the "handmade" part of the gift basket. :)


Baby Boy

1-Embellished onesie (tutorial will be posted soon)
1-Pants
1-Large knitted monster ("The Big Book of Knitted Monsters" by Rebecca Danger)
2-Embellished burp cloths
1-Receiving blanket

Baby Girl

Happy Flower Clips: The Tutorial

I promised a tute for the Happy Flower Clips, and here it is! It is really, really easy (maybe 5 min. total). Have fun!

Materials:
2 large plastic flowers (American Crafts)
2 Medium plastic flowers (American Crafts)
2 small plastic flowers (American Crafts)
2 jeweled brads (American Crafts)
2 Aligator clips
Ribbon
Hot glue/gun
Scissors



1. Fold over the end of your ribbon 1/4"-5/8" and glue it down.


2. (Sorry about the blur, I had a baby on my lap). Put some glue on the upper back side of the clip. Stick your ribbon on, folded side down, so that the long piece is toward the end that is shaped like a "v".


3. Glue the ribbon inside the "v", and glue it down on the front side, just before you hit the hole in the middle.


4. Measure your ribbon and cut it so that it fits neatly on the inside of the clip. Put some glue on...


5. Fold it over and press down.


6. Stack up your flowers (Smallest to largest), and stick them through with the brad. If the pre-made holes are too small, try sticking a pen through the center. This should make the hole a little bigger.


7. Put a drop of glue near the end of the clip.


8. Attach your flower and you're done!


*Please let me know if this tutorial doesn't make sense. I'm finding it a little difficult to explain what I mean.*

Pink Parisian Shower

I offered to throw a baby shower for a good friend of mine. She has two boys and is expecting a little girl now! It took me a while to settle on a theme, but once it came it pulled together so well!


It is hard to see, but there is a filigree watermark on the pink cardstock. So cute.


We had a wonderful assortment of food displayed using 'lifts and levels'. Everything was amazing! Thank you everyone for your help!


These are Crab Sandwiches. THEY. ARE. SO. GOOD. They really were a huge hit.


Lehi's Dream...otherwise known as Chocolate Mint Decadence. It really is that good.
5 lbs. of chocolate. No flour. Yeah.


I hung up a sheet and used some fabric to create a faux wall/window look. It turned out really cute! I also created a cool frame using spraypainted cardboard, then drew a simplified picture of the Eiffel Tower using chalk pastels and suspended it in the frame with fishing line. It was really, really cool. I may end up doing something similar to this with more permanent supplies...


I really loved the balloons on the ceiling. It just made things so...festive. :)
It was a great party and I had so much fun planning it! Hopefully this post can inspire you all to step outside the "party planning box" and have some fun!

Chrocheted Booties

I love making these beautiful booties (same pattern as the Blessing booties)! I made these for a friend who just a baby girl, and they turned out beautiful! They are a lovely crimson wool, with an off white wool felt flower. I want a pair for myself!


The booties were a part of a larger gift -a pink/red striped shirt, jeans, and a handmade hair flower. She is going to be so stylin'. :)

A Preview

What do you do when you don't like any of the baby bedding at the store? You make it.

I had to create the large floral print, as there wasn't one that I liked. I have plans to show you how to create a quilt when you have no pattern to follow, as well as how to create beautiful applique.

Happy Flower Clips

The name might be unusual, but it is true. These clips make me happy. I honestly can't wait for Aevs to be old enough to wear them, and to post the tutorial...

The Blessing Shoes

I made this for Sister Girl's blessing, from a (slightly modified) pattern I found at hookcandy.com. I embellished them a little for the fanciness factor, and I love how they turned out!

A Doll for Sister Girl

I made this doll for Sister Girl after I saw the beautiful dolls at Bybido. I am really proud of myself! I'm hoping to post a pattern for the doll body and the face in a few weeks.
